In the past few years, there has been a trend of labor shortages in the Croatian economy. Predominantly, these are service professions of the secondary education profession, but there is also an increase in the labor shortage in occupations that require a higher education. The aforementioned is influenced by numerous economic and political factors, and it is difficult to determine the exact reason for low employment in certain industries for a particular occupation. Nevertheless, it is clear that the key role in the labor force shortage is played by the reduced birth rate, i.e. the pronounced aging of the population and the outflow of labor force abroad, both of the less educated and the highly educated population.
